Why a Border Terrier?

....In fact, why a purebred at all??

There are many good reasons for purchasing a pure bred pup from a responsible breeder who will be there for you and your dog from the time you first take the puppy home until the tearful day when you say goodbye to a much loved friend.

There are are also very good reasons NOT to buy a purebred pup.

At Jansim Reg'd we take the responsibility of bringing puppies into a world that destroys thousands daily very seriously indeed. That is one of the driving forces behind our extremely conservative breeding program and demanding standards for our puppy owners. It is also one of the reasons why we will always be there for you and your Jansim pup.

That being said, we encourage you to seriously consider whether a purebred Border Terrier is a necessity or whether a small terrier mix from one of the hundreds of humane societies or rescue organizations might be the right choice for you and your family?

As someone who has been blessed with wonderful old dogs (living well into their teens), I especially encourage you to consider a "senior". So often these "more mature" dogs never even make it into the adoption cages despite the fact that they still have years of unconditional love and companionship to offer.

Below are some links to sites that you could browse in search of your special friend and further down you will find photos of BT "wannabe's" who found themselves in need of a new "forever home".
And if you do decide that a "terrier of unknown origins" is right for you and we are close enough to be of assistance with grooming, etc. do not hesitate to contact us.

This is an excellent site, if you enter the following criteria:
    ANIMAL: Dog
    BREED: Terrier
    SIZE: small
your ZIP or POSTAL CODE and SEARCH: National
You will come up with the 450 closest to your location. You can narrow the search considerably by selecting gender and/or age range but please, don't forget the seniors.
  • The Senior Dogs Project
This site is devoted to older dogs and will direct you to breed-specific or regional organizations specialising in the placement of "mature" dogs.
